The Live Box
COMPETITION: FESTIVAL OF CREATIVE URBAN LIVING CURATED BY RAUM LABOR BERLIN
Fifty years on from the inception of Milton Keynes, we propose to create a space to bring alive stories of the city, both real and fictional. In a city where the trees are aligned and the roads run on a grid, we want to create a moment of deviation.
The Live Box uses the traditional theatrical element of a curtain, made up of metal frameworks covered in translucent sheets. The curtains can be closed to create an intimate space or can be expanded outwards to open up to the surrounding area.
As reading books takes a back seat to social media, is poetry under threat? Or perhaps new narratives of the city have evolved using digital and new media. The Live Box is a temporary performance space for poetry and storytelling.
It is a bubble, it is a platform. It is a place for performance; it is a space for listening. It is a space where poetry interacts with the community of Milton Keynes.
